Never before in the history of Dutch Cinema has a Dutch film Production company produced a Martial Arts movie. Fighting Fish is the first Martial Arts movie coming from the Netherlands made for a broad audience, featuring a visually attractive lovestory and spectacular martial arts scenes, performed by martial artists, that are true masters of their art and various fighting styles. The setting is Rotterdam, an international Metropole, where the main character of Fighting Fish, the mysterious stranger A-Ken (Kim Ho Kim) arrives to find out the true facts about the death of his brother, Chau.Everything looks clear at first, but in the Chinese underworld nothing is what it seems. He embarks on a dangerous journey through gang territory to find his brother's killer, on which he meets several hostile opponents. Furthermore, A-Ken gets entangled in a romance with the beautiful Dutch girl Jennifer (Chantal Janzen), a fact that is not accepted by the people around them..Fighting Fish is a so-called "Modern Eastern". This eastern version of the Western genre normally plays within an asian setting, but now takes place in Rotterdam, where a modern skyline and scenic locations are available.
